In the modern compilers course offered by the CS department, the majority of your grade will hang on the development of a functional compile for an language design specifically for the teaching of the course.

[edit] Requirements

At the time of writing, the requirement of Programming Languages CSci5106 has been added. This class is an absolute, no-kidding, I really mean it sort of requirement. If you haven't completed programming languages, this course could be one of the most difficult courses you have taken.
