[edit] Visiting Undergrads

The department needs your help in recruiting quality graduate students. We need grad students to volunteer to visit undergrads and talk to them about grad school here. Please volunteer by editing this page and inserting yourself and/or your undergraduate institution. If you volunteer, we will contact you with more info. Feel free to email the CSGSA President, Katie Panciera, katpa@cs.umn.edu with questions.

If you volunteer, your responsibilities will be modest: basically, make the visit. We envision something informal, probably brief pitch and some Q&A. Scheduling as well as transportation, food, and all other expenses will be taken care of by the department.

[edit] Meeting with faculty Fall 2007

Last year, several of us went and visited local (and not-so-local) undergraduate institutions to talk about our work and our time at the U. This year, fifteen professors from these schools will be on campus on Oct 4-5 to learn more about the CS department and our offerings. We would like to gather students together for a breakfast on Oct. 5 at 7.45am to meet with the professors and later on in the semester visit their classrooms. If you are interested in this, please contact Katie at katpa@cs.umn.edu ASAP or go directly to the Wiki and sign up on the Undergrads Visit page. If you are graduating soon and are interested at working at any of these institutions, please follow the same procedure, but make it clear that you are interested in the faculty side of things.

Put your name, email, and recruiting or faculty below to join us on Oct 5 at 7.45am for breakfast. (Will be confirmed later.)

[edit] Visiting top regional schools Fall 2007

We would like small groups of students (2-4) to visit some of the top regional schools. Ideally, at least one of the grads would be an alumnus/a, but this not a requirement. The department would work with faculty at the host school to set up an informal meeting with some of their better juniors and faculty and would pay for lunch for everyone.

Put your name and email below to volunteer. Feel free to add your undergrad school if it's not listed.

We need a senior grad student willing to talk to ACM. Reason: the department would like its best undergrads to consider staying on for grad school.
